Herbs are an important part of our culinary experience. Learn how to grow your own in the garden and in containers. Tips for success and important ways to save plants for fresh winter use and the variety of ways they can be stored. \n  \nThe Hows and Whys of My Top 5 Favourite Edibles!  \nOrganic Master Gardener Jennifer Burns-Robinson takes us on a virtual tour of her garden to learn about her favourites. Pick up her secrets to a good harvest\, why these particular varieties\, and what to do with them after harvest.  Get some tips on a bit of nutrition\, good growing conditions\, and seed starting.  You’ll be inspired to try something new! \nJennifer Burns-Robinson has many garden interests. She is a Landscape Architectural Technologist\, Master Composter\, Certified Prairie Horticulturist\, and Arborist. She has done extensive residential and commercial design\, and currently is Coordinator of the Organic Master Gardener Program at the Stony Plain Multicultural Heritage Centre. \n  \nBackyard Insects. \nTake a virtual tour around the edible garden with Entomologist Mike Jenkins. Learn to recognize the beneficial insects that help keep pests in check. Find out how understanding their lifecycles can help gardeners choose good strategies for controlling the troublesome insects. \nMike Jenkins is the Pest Management Coordinator for the City of Edmonton. He is the go-to bug guy and an outstanding photographer. Be prepared for an up-close look at insects like you’ve never seen before.
