Short description of the event
: While many gardeners are comfortable starting annual flowers and vegetables from seed, most default to the nursery or garden center when acquiring woody trees and shrubs. But why? Many of the woody plants around us can be easily propagated using techniques available to most novice gardeners. Join master gardener and urban tree nursery owner Dustin Bajer for an overview of the rewarding world of woody plant propagation from seeds and cuttings. Propagate your fruit trees, shelterbelt, and ornamental woody plants.

Dustin Bajer is an educator, master gardener, beekeeper, permaculture designer, urban agriculture consultant, and is enthusiastic about designing with nature. In 2014, Dustin started propagating uncommon local plant varieties and trialling new species in his Edmonton backyard. Finding success, Dustin expanded the nursery and began teaching others how to propagate woody plants from seeds and cuttings. In 2020, Dustin launched Shrubscriber, a climate-conscious community, to fund free trees for school and community groups.

New members and visitors are welcome, drop-in fee $5.00.
