Winter Bug Count at Kerry Wood Nature Centre
Winter Bug Count at Kerry Wood Nature Centre
When: Sunday, February 1 from 1:00-3:00 PM. Orientation meeting will start right at 1:00 PM so please arrive about ten minutes early.
Where: Kerry Wood Nature Center – 6300 45 Ave, Red Deer, AB
Join Nature Alberta and the Kerry Wood Nature Centre to contribute to the Winter Bug Count. You don’t need to be an expert at identifying bugs, you just need to have a sense of curiosity! John and Benny Acorn will be volunteering with us and helping identify bugs that we find.
Families with kids interested in finding and learning more about bugs are invited to join in the fun as participants in the bug count! We are also seeking out volunteers to help with the event logistics and keep everything running smoothly.
Participants will:
- start the shift with a safety meeting
- search for bugs around the Nature Centre and Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary to add our observations to the iNaturalist Winter Bug Count project
Volunteers will:
- assist in setting up of any necessary materials/supplies
- help participants with submitting their sightings to iNaturalist
- help with group management duties
How to Participate:
